Citrus root stock - FOUND

Post by Mulch » 06 Dec 2019, 13:52

Okay, since I got such a overwhelming response to my first request, (/s) I managed to keep my eyes open IRL for grafting rootstock around town.

What I found here locally (listed from memory)

Various Citrus 2 ft tall plants that had plenty of room for side grafts on the root stock.
All cleared as being free from the psyllid quarantine zones (zone 3) :D
Grafted varieties are (some are dwarf or semi dwarf varieties)

Oranges:
• Navel (Washington)
• Valencia (not listed variety)

Limes:
• Bearss limes (Citrus latifolia) Semi Dwarf

Lemons:
• Lisbon (Citrus limon “Lisbon”)
• Eureka (Citrus limon “Eureka”)

Mandarins:
• Murcott / Honey? (Citrus reticulata Blanco)

To be found in the garden centers at multiple Walmarts I've visited $15.00 each for a 2 ft tall grafted plant and about a foot of the rootstock stem left to graft directly onto (poss. Trifoliate Orange/ Bitter orange rootstock).

It's kinda slim pickings right now, and I'm sure someone might find some that I haven't listed there -Either way, if you wanted grafting stock like I do, it's a good deal

mix and match... I'm going to try my hand at grafting all of these together.

I'm going to attempt to graft 5 varieties this year, I really liked the Okinawan lime and the Supernova Mandarin, I will also add Page, Xie Shan, and Keraji on popular opinion.
